I’m reading The Vortex by Ester & Jerry Hicks. On page 41 they share a 30-minute Energy Alignment Process that I’m starting tonight when I go to sleep:
- Find things in your immediate vicinity – such as your bed, your linens, your pillow – to direct your attention toward.
- Set the intention to sleep well and wake up refreshed.
- When you wake up in the morning, lie in appreciation for at least 5 minutes.
- Refresh yourself by bathing and eating.
- Sit for 15 minutes and quiet your mind. Feel your vibration rise.
- Open your eyes. Write for 10-15 minutes about things you appreciate about your life.
It feels so nice just *thinking* about doing this. Imagine actually doing it!
I’ll be back tomorrow to report on this experience.
Join me if you think it’d feel good!

Last night it seemed like this would feel good to do…
It did!
Especially the waking up in the morning part and focusing immediately on things I appreciate…then later writing for 15 minutes about things I liked about my life.
It was so nice. Brought my attention to all the goodness that I have in my life. And it’s really been with me all day because I started my day out in that way. It can’t help but ripple out when I do it like that.
Hi Mona,
Fun idea to start out the day writing about the good things we appreciate in our lives.
I’ve got lots myself! Here are a few.
a) my sense of humor
b) my persistence
c) my hilarious cat Valentino
d) my karaoke nights
e) my backyard filled with trees, flowers, and animals.
f) my chats with friends over glasses of vino.
Thx. G.

@Giulietta So good! All these things that bring you joy and help you feel good. Love love love!
Some from my writing this morning: I have comfortable clothes and beautiful plants around me. I am so blessed. A flushing working toilet and plenty of toilet paper. I have markets all around me where I can get fresh organic produce and everything I desire. It’s so good!
I follow a very similar plan to the one suggested by them Hicks folks…
Except, I’ve added presupposition questions to crank up the feel good even more you might try that too..
Questions like…
Why is my life so wonderful…
How could I be so blessed already this morning…
You get the picture I’m sure.

@Eric Yes! I love doing that also. Why is this so easy for me!? Why do I love working so much?
Our minds totally find what we’re looking for…so I agree…this totally cranks up the feel good.
I wrote so far: Things I appreciate about my life …
the freak of being alive on a planet in a body.
the freak of being healthy and functioning
freak of having online access to making friends and expressing myself
the freak, I appreciate the freak of being able to travel, living in the midwest where there’s some super cool people and that I made new friends last weekend
Mona Grayson’s blog is cool too!
I appreciate my Fiance and how he provides and I know is solving some issues right now …
@Cindy Your list is so great because your life is amazing and you’re noticing it! Yes yes yes!
Wish I had time to do that in the morning! I’m always up in a rush to start my day. I could do it about an hour after I get up! Does that count?
@Mary If the only time I could find to do it were an hour after waking up, I’d totally go for it. Give it a try and see how it feels! You can always work with your schedule later if you choose, but definitely jump on the appreciation train as soon as you can. : )
Also, in step 2 when you set the intention to wake up refreshed, also set the intention to feel relaxed in the morning and focus on how it’s going to feel good and easy to get everything done that you choose to do.
So whenever you can, sit in stillness/meditate for at least 15 minutes. Then sit for 10 minutes (use a timer) and write about things you appreciate. I like starting with prompts (either on paper or by typing) like:
I like…
I love…
I enjoy…
I appreciate…
I’m going to be doing this again tonight myself and in the morning too – which will be great because I’m waking up super early to drive into the Lemont event with Jonathan…so starting my day off with this massive dose of appreciation is going to be awesome and life-giving. xoxo
oh my goodness, I loved reading this! Especially Cindy’s – the freak and Eric’s.
Cindy – freak is a term of endearment in our house.
Eric – I got all choked up reading yours. I LOVE those thoughts!
