Fresh Mint: Raw Food Recipes And Ideas

by Mona on July 14, 2009

So I chopped a bunch of fresh mint from my garden. Asked on Twitter what people’s favorite things to do with fresh mint are. Here are some of the ideas:

  1. @dairyfreecook: I vote on a personal favorite: Raw Mint Chocolate Chip Milkshakes http://tinyurl.com/cwhryo Perfect for summer!
  2. @Fungible: I love making “mint pesto” – it’s super fresh and goes on anything! Usually mint, olive oil, parmesan and romano cheese, and garlic. If I want to make it a hybrid, I’ll add some basil. I usually skip the pine nuts, in case anyone’s allergic to them.
  3. @hyperlinked: I really enjoy some chocolatey-mint smoothies myself. Think bananas, raw cacao, plus lots of mint, and a few dates?

  4. @KittysKitchen Kitty’s Mojito’s! http://bit.ly/18068o Mint Juleps, Mint syrup, Mint jelly, Mint ice cubes, Mint tea & for quick refreshing thirst quencher Mint Ice water. Have Fun!

  5. @FOKaL: A yummy Greek Cucumber & Mint Salad, perfect summer treat #rawfood

  6. @girlandcoconut I love blending mint w/watermelon and ice. I also use mint in my raw phad thai.

  7. @HiroBoga Mint chutney. Mint-and-cucumber water. #rawfood

Here’s a whole great post from Raw Epicurean about mint and the different varieties, how to store it, what to do with it. Super resource.
